Kelvin Barlow
In September 1999 Kelvin joined a firm that specialised in offering advice to personal injury claimants as Investment Manager, with responsibility for over £60m of funds under management. He devised an investment strategy specifically for such clients and, in 2001, was awarded the accolade of "Best small-medium sized fund strategist" by Fund Strategy magazine.
This strategy was also examined by the investment division of the Public Guardianship Office and the Lord Chancellor's Strategic Investment Board. In order to gain consent for this strategy he represented clients at more than 30 hearings before the Master of the Court of Protection, receiving approval for every case.
Prior to this, Kelvin's career included an equity partnership in a firm of independent financial advisers, a director's post in a discretionary investment management firm and experience with a firm of stockbrokers.
For the first sixteen years of his working life, Kelvin was involved in the accountancy profession, the last nine of which he ran his own practice.
Nigel Minay
After 25 years in the financial services sector, an opportunity
arose for Nigel to join a firm advising clients that had suffered personal injury. It was here that Nigel was involved in numerous structured settlement cases ranging in size from £100,000 to
£3.6m, which is believed to be the largest in the UK at that time.
In 1989, following a regional
management role with an
asset management company
Nigel was invited to join a
firm of insurance brokers to
assist in the development of
the financial services
department.
By December 1992 he had
been appointed as director with full responsibility for the financial services team.
In addition to advising both individual and corporate clients on all aspects of financial planning, Nigel was also the Compliance
Officer and Company Secretary for the firm.
His early career consisted of 10 years as a Life and Pensions Consultant with Eagle Star and before that 3 years as a Senior Pensions Administrator at Noble Lowndes.
